Strategies to get the best Elizabeth City vacation rental experience:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are high season in Elizabeth City. Reserve your vacation home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Elizabeth City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts offer special rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Elizabeth City area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have discounts for local accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Luxury condo with river views, private parking, and steps from Pailin's Alley has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to drive future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
