Tips to get the best Elizabeth City rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To find the best vacation home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Elizabeth City visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Discounts Avail. Cozy 2 LVNG RM, Baths, Patios. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a specific Elizabeth City attraction you crave, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your invoice.
Know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- During arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of issues.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a great stay? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
