Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.

Selecting and booking the perfectvacation home:

  • Select a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Comfort & Quiet in a Central location has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what bed configuration is best for your vacation family.

  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • During arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.

  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to inspire future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
