How to get the best Elizabeth City vacation property experience:

When to reserve a Elizabeth City rental home & When to go:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in the Elizabeth City area. To find the best value, shift your family's Elizabeth City trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, , and reduced traffic.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Elizabeth City area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Elizabeth City area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose and book the best Elizabeth City rental:

  • To start, have your group agree to a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Waterfront Beauty! Incredible Sunsets, Exotic Birds and Gorgeous Water Views! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Elizabeth City vacation rental search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your group.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • During check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
