Details

Built in 1912 for Mary Blades Foreman, this house is a Neo-Colonial Revival style house. When the house was built it was known as a Southern Colonial Revival style house. Mary Blades Forman was a member of the city's prominent Blades family and had this house built following the sudden death of her husband Clay Foreman. The plans for this house specified that three nails were to be used where one would normally suffice.

Details

This is the Judge Isaac M. Meekins house. It was built in 1903. President Taft visited Judge Meekins at his home on W. Main Street in 1914. The house is built in the Neo-Classical Revival style designed by architects from Raleigh. The second story has false balconies. According the the original plans for the house, the terra cotta Ionic capitals came from Boston and the colored glass windows are from Chicago and Atlanta.

Details

This is the Dennis M. Jones House and is considered to be the finest example of a Queen Anne house in Elizabeth City. It was built in 1902 for the owner of a downtown hardware store. At the rear of the house is the original stable and carriage house matching the decorative scheme of the main house.
