The Pasquotank County Courthouse was built in 1882 and has a Victorian central section. This is the second courthouse built on this site. The first courthouse was torched by panicked citizens following Elizabeth City's capture by Union troops on February 10, 1862.
The United States Post Office and Federal Courthouse was built in 1906.This stone-veneered Renaissance Revival building has handsome classical and floral embellishments accenting the postal lobby. Upstairs there is a impressive mahogany-paneled courtroom. The wings were added in 1930. Limited public access to the federal courthouse is permitted.
The Willis Wright Building is on the corner of E Main Street and Water Street in downtown Elizabeth City. Commercial space below and condomimiums in the back and above. All on the beautiful Pasquotank River, part of the Intracoastal Waterway.
